Help Stanford University find cures to diseases by joining the Granny Mary Folding@Home Team
(Team Granny is currently ranked 3,525 out of 88,135 teams, with 154,482 total points)
Congratulations, Team Granny, you're now in the top 4% of teams! Keep up the good work!
Folding@Home
is a small free software program that runs on your computer in the
background. It simulates "folding" proteins to help find cures for
diseases such as:
(for more information about the Folding@Home program, visit their website by clicking here, or read the Wikipedia Encyclopedia entry by clicking here).
Granny would like you to join her Folding@Home team by downloading the folding software (for most people it will be the first file on the list: Windows Graphical Client)
and installing it onto your computer. The software does not install
spyware or any of that bad stuff on your computer, so don't worry about
that. After installation, make sure to add the software
shortcut to your Windows "Startup" folder so it will start
automatically when you start your computer. The software runs in the
background and only uses whatever computer power you're not using, so
you
can continue to use your computer as you always have. It's best to run
it on a computer that's normally left running all the time (such as if
you have a cable or dsl connection). It normally takes a day or
two before your computer completes it's first "Work Unit" and your name
shows up on the team list.
When you install the program it will ask you for your username and team number. Put whatever username you want, but be sure to put team number 53882 (that's Granny Mary's Funny Farm).
If you have any questions about Folding@Home, then contact Granny's team leader Vince
- and the Granny team rankings by clicking here.
(Since Granny's is a brand new team, it will be a while before we rank
high enough to be in the top 100, so be sure to recruit all your
friends and associates to join the Granny folding team!)
Granny would like to thank you for caring enough to join her Folding@Home team!
